BounceForward™ and end this week on a high note

No time to waste...here are a few practical, neuroscience-based tips to help you BOUNCE FORWARD™

Understanding Micro-stresses
We've all been there - a flood of small stressors hitting us as soon as we wake up on Monday morning. From a packed inbox to a colleague who wastes your time because they don't know how to articulate a problem they need solving. These micro-stresses can quickly compound and drain our energy. But fear not...with the right mindset and tools, we can transform these challenges into opportunities for growth.

Your Micro-stress Toolkit

1. Mindful Morning Rituals

  • Start your day with an intention.
  • Before diving into your emails or social media: take 5 deep breaths (chin up and enjoy relaxing your eyebrows, and have that far-away stare).
This is also useful in meetings that are tense.
  • Set 3 KEY priorities for the day
  • Write down one thing that you are grateful for!

2. Pause, Reframe and Refocus

  • When faced with a micro-stress, ask yourself:
"How can this challenge help me grow?"
"What's one small step I can take to address this?"

3. Micromoments of Joy
Counteract micro-stresses with micro-moments of joy:

  • Have a skateboard to ride up and down the corridors. I have zero balance ... the moment of Joy would be seeing me 'come short' !
  • Share a laugh with a colleague
  • Take a 2-minute nature break
  • Listen to your favourite upbeat song
These small positive experiences can significantly boost your mood and energy levels.

4. The Power of Connections
Remember, you're not alone in this! Maintaining meaningful relationships outside of work is crucial for top performers:

  • Schedule a quick catch-up call with a friend during your lunch break
  • Plan a mid-week activity to look forward to (e.g. go to a movie or a new restaurant)
These connections provide essential emotional support and moments of joy that can buffer against daily stressors
Remember, resilience isn't about avoiding stress AND STRESS isn't the BAD Guy!

It's about how we respond to stress, and grow from it. By tackling these microstresses head-on, you're not just surviving hectic moments; you're thriving and setting yourself up for an incredible week ahead!
