Have You Ever Been a Gate Lice? 🐜✈️
Over the weekend, I stumbled upon a term that sounds utterly revolting: "Gate Lice." What does it mean? It refers to those sneaky individuals who skip to the front of the queue at an airport boarding gate.
I wish I could say I’ve never been guilty of this behavior, but—ouch—I have to admit that I have! The deep desire to get to my seat, put on my eye mask, and SLEEP has driven me to this dreadful act.
Let’s face it: air travel can feel like a circus, and we’ve all had our moments of “creative boarding". Interestingly, American Airlines is stepping up with a new technology that audibly alerts passengers when someone tries to sneak onto the plane before their group is called.
Ouch! Yes, the days of "gate lice" may be numbered! You know the type—those sneaky passengers who treat the “5” on their boarding pass as merely a suggestion. These days, people are after that precious overhead bin space like it’s the last biscuit on the plate. 🍪
Here’s the Scoop:
This new system will emit a loud alert when someone attempts to board out of order, taking some pressure off gate agents who often play the role of boarding police. Sound the Alarm! 🔔I think this is a fabulous idea! What do you think?
* Less Stress for Everyone: No more awkward confrontations at the gate.
* A Win for Priority Passengers: I now pay for Priority Boarding!
American Airlines is currently testing this system in Albuquerque, Tucson, and Washington, DC, and early reports are looking promising.
Who knew that technology could help us avoid those cringe-worthy moments at the gate? So, next time you’re at the airport, keep an eye out for those alerts. And if you’ve ever channeled your inner gate lice, don’t worry—you’re not alone! 😂
