The power of sharing resources at work!

I am writing an eBook (give me a shout if you want to be interviewed) on the FOS workplace. I see so many people in a state of Fear (or high anxiety); Overwhelm (too much to do) and riddled with Self-doubt.

We need to move out of FOS, and into a state of FLOW = mindfulness and productivity!

FOS : the constant influx of emails, meetings, and deadlines can leave us feeling stretched thin and struggling to keep up. However, one powerful solution lies in the simple act of sharing resources with our colleagues.

Sharing resources is not just about being a team player; it's a strategic approach to maximizing efficiency and productivity. By leveraging the collective knowledge, skills, and tools within our organizations, we can accomplish more in less time and with less effort.

Here are a few examples of how sharing resources can benefit your team:

1. Knowledge Sharing:
Instead of reinventing the wheel, share your expertise and insights with colleagues working on similar projects. e.g. documenting your processes, creating training materials, or hosting informal knowledge-sharing sessions. One of the car manufacturers that I am currently working with discussed 'streamlining their processes' in their Finance department with me this week.

2. Tool Collaboration:
Share specialized software or tools across departments or projects.

3. Task Delegation:
Delegating to colleagues - lightens your workload, and also promotes cross-training and knowledge transfer within the team. In the same Finance team that we discussed that people were taking their laptops with them on leave... because their colleagues were not 'upskilled' enough to help “stakeholders” when they were not in the office.

4. Networking and Mentorship:
Connect with colleagues in different departments, or with diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas, gain new perspectives, and foster professional growth.

Embracing a culture of resource sharing not only enhances individual productivity but also strengthens team cohesion and collaboration.

When we break down silos and leverage each other's strengths, we create a more efficient and supportive work environment.

In today's fast-paced world, where time is a precious commodity, sharing resources is a powerful strategy for staying ahead of the curve.

By fostering an open and collaborative mindset, we can collectively achieve more, while reducing stress and burnout.

So, the next time you find yourself in a state of FOS... remember the power of sharing resources.
