I feel ‘buried under’ far too many WhatsApps every day. BUT this made my day! By last night, I could have thrown my mobile into the pool. My daughter Kayla Peddie came home to 'Doggie Day Care' (aka my house) to collect her spaniel and demanded to know about my Personal Discovery Vitality 'Year in Review' for 2024. She was horrified that I hadn't (yet) opened that WhatsApp.
She works for #DiscoveryVitality and was keen to see how Mum has fared over the last year. Despite being crying tired... I opened that WhatsApp. It absolutely made my day.
ALERT: I am going to boast. I am ranked in the Top 15% of their most active members in 2024.
Not bad, hey? 👏I love the specificity of numbers. In 2024, I covered a whopping 2,513 km through running and walking! 🏃♀️🚶♀️
To put that into perspective, #DiscoveryVitality cleverly illustrated that distance as being equivalent to traveling from Cape Town to Angola (as per the graphic). The graphics are fabulous, informative, and downright inspiring for the year ahead.
There's other cool news... my Vitality Age is 57. I am 58. So that's probably nothing to shout about from the rooftops. But in 2025, I aim to be 56 and not 59.
I want to keep moving that needle DOWNWARDS.
Shout out to #DiscoveryVitality Celeste Williams and her team for creating such an engaging and user-friendly review. So clearly, VITALITY is still top of mind. This morning I went for a 4km run (I may need to increase that distance if I want to venture further than Angola in 2025) and I tuned into Steven Bartlett's "Diary of a CEO" podcast, where he interviewed Daniel Priestley.
Daniel shared a fascinating perspective on the word 'vitality.' He believes it means being 'irreplaceable' and 'having the life force to fully express yourself' - both imperative for thriving in today's business world. As I have smashed through my "To Do List" today (and it's been va va vroom Friday), I have pondered these words:'irreplaceable' + 'having the life force to fully express yourself'.
As 2025 unfolds, I am going to keep those words top of mind. I'm writing my next Leadership book. Working Title: 'From CAN'T to CAN DO, working in a world of unprecedented change, volatility and uncertainty'.
Here's to a year full of:
Let's make 2025 a year of VITALITY, growth, and success! 💪
How are you planning to boost your vitality this year?
